In April 2020, Texas Women’s Foundation established the Resilience Fund to provide immediate, mid- and long-term support to women, girls and families most affected by the COVID-19 economic and community health crisis. With $1.4 million raised and granted, the Resilience Fund is impacting lives of many, especially women of color, who have been the hardest hit this year. Did you know that every 30 seconds someone becomes a victim of modern-day slavery? Or that there are 48.8M slaves in the world today? 22% are sex slaves. And I’m embarrassed to say that Texas is ranked #2 in the nation for the most reported human trafficking cases. The average age an American girl enters the sex trade is 13. And shockingly, 400 trafficked, underage teens work the streets of Dallas each night. And finally, there are illegal massage business working trafficked girls by schools and even in our wealthiest neighborhoods . . . think about it.

Founded in 2006 by Jennifer and Peter Buffett, NoVo has become one of the largest private foundations in the world to support initiatives focused explicitly on girls and women, including a dedicated focus on ending violence against girls and women and supporting adolescent girls.
