THE POSITION
The Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas (CCGD) is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to organize and manage the office’s finances. This is a part-time hourly position.
SKILLS NEEDED
  • Minimum of associate’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum 3+ years previous bookkeeping experience for a small to mid-size firm preferred; non-profit or working in an arts environment would be ideal
  • Thorough knowledge of QuickBooks and accounting/bookkeeping principles
  • Strong time management with respect for deadlines
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, excellent organizational and follow-through skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality; protecting financial information and member/donor information
  • Ability to work in a small office team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities successfully
  • Ability to work with staff members, volunteers, and patrons with a high level of professionalism, diplomacy, and tact
  • Understanding of accounting principles and standards of nonprofit organizations
  • Exceptional follow-through skills and ability to multi-task
DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
  • Manage all day to day bookkeeping and accounting processes including but not limited to: A/P, A/R, payroll, journal entries, and bank reconciliation
  • Process and issue company payroll including payment of applicable taxes in an accurate and timely manner
  • Perform general bookkeeping duties, including posting information to accounting software,  reconciling accounts, processing vendor invoices and payments, and recording deposits
  • Reconcile bank and credit card transactions, identify discrepancies, and work with E.D. to resolve on a monthly basis
  • Prepare for and cooperate with outside CPA to perform an annual financial review
  • Manage invoicing and accounts receivable, track expenses and documentation
  • Ensure expenditures and revenue are appropriately categorized
  • Track credit card processing fees and enter all credit card payments
  • Manage and process medical benefits and reimbursements
  • Record donations, grants, contracts, pledges, etc
  • Process quarterly reports for IRS 941, ASCAP, and Texas Workforce Commission
  • Process new employee paperwork
  • Create and distribute W-2, W-3, 1099, and 1096
  • Provide administrative support to management when required
TIME COMMITTMENT
The Bookkeeper’s time commitment will fluctuate due to the seasonality of the position with heavier months predicted to be in July-August*. The position is expected to average 4-8 hours per week for 52 weeks. Hours are flexible.
 
*Please note that July-August has a heavier workload than the rest of the year due to invoicing and tuition payments for the new season.
 
COMPENSATION
Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience.
