The ACTS Apostolate encompasses ACTS Missions, ACTS Missions Chapters, and ACTS Cores.  The apostolate partners with Catholic parishes in building vibrant, active communities through ACTS Retreats and ongoing parish support.  The Events Specialist plays an important role in advancing the mission of the apostolate through the successful execution of fundraising events for headquarters and in our US-based Chapters across the country. The Specialist will also engage in cultivation and stewardship activities with donors and community members.  The Event Specialist is creative, self-motivated, mission-minded, with a can-do attitude and servant’s heart.



  • Responsible for developing and executing a fundraising events plan tied to donor cultivation, acquisition, stewardship, and income generation and in alignment with overall organization strategy and mission objectives
  • Works cooperatively with ACTS Missions Leadership to enhance the organization’s brand, image, and message
  • Strengthens and grows the community of donors and advocates by organizing effective donor-focused experiences while meeting budget expectations
  • Coordinates with the Mission Advancement team to organize event promotions
  • Identifies need for, organize, and manage event volunteers
  • Manages invitation and guest lists
  • Develops and implements an events guide for ACTSM Chapters
  • Manages a donor portfolio of assigned, qualified donors; creates giving goals for each donor based on interest, motivations, history of giving, and knowledge of donor’s potential
  • Makes public presentations at events, conferences, meetings, trainings, workshops, etc.
  • Responsible for adhering to department budget
  • All other duties the Supervisor may deem a necessary job responsibility, e.g. short-term special projects


Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or related field; in lieu of, experience may be substituted
  • Three to five years’ experience in events planning
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication in English and Spanish
  • Excellent organizational skills including ability to establish timelines and meet recurring deadlines
  • Outstanding communication skills, written and verbal
  • Managing marketing collateral and brand and culture awareness internally and externally
  • Facility with technology including, but not limited to, desktop/laptop familiarity, Office 365, virtual communication (phone, online video conferencing, email)


Preferred Qualifications and Characteristics:

  • Familiarity with donor community
  • Experience as an ACTS Retreatant and Team Member; additional experience serving as an ACTS Director, parish ACTS Core member, and/or a member of an ACTS Chapter preferred
  • Knowledge of Catholic teachings and hierarchy


Working Conditions:

  • General Office work environment
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends
  • Willingness to travel with an overnight stay if needed
  • Valid Texas Class C driver’s license and insurable


Additional Information:

  • Office hours are 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday-Friday; additionally, there may be occasion to travel and/or participate in evening and weekend activities as needed
  • Employee must live within an hour or less commute of the ACTS Missions headquarters based at 7711 Madonna Drive, San Antonio, TX 78216
