Lizzie Dipp Metzger is proud to give back to her community by supporting foundations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas. In 2017, she committed to a pledge of $25,000 which will be fulfilled over 5 years. A firm believer in the mission of Make-A-Wish Foundation, “Together, we create life changing wishes for children with critical illnesses,” Dipp Metzger intends to continue supporting the foundation that since. Inception in 1982, Make-A-Wish has granted more than 11,000 wishes to critically ill children in the region and is growing each year.
“I am humbled to be part of this beautiful and amazing mission that is making a difference for children facing critical illnesses here in El Paso.” Dipp Metzger said.
Make-A-Wish is the legacy of Chris Greicius, a 7-year-old boy from Phoenix. His wish to be a police officer showed how the experience can be a game-changer for a child with a critical illness and set in motion a phenomenon that would create an unprecedented kind of charity. This belief guides the foundation as it grants wishes that change the lives of the children it serves, compels to be creative in exceeding the expectations of every wish child, and drives to make the donated resources go as far as possible.
“The wishes in the Make-A-Wish Foundation are far more than gifts, or singular events in time. These wishes impact everyone involved – the wish kids, volunteers, donors, sponsors, medical professionals and communities. “The impact varies. For wish kids, just the hope of having their wish come true can give them the courage to comply with their medical treatments. Parents finally feel that they can be optimistic. And others realize all they have to offer the world through volunteer work or philanthropy.
