Hours after Mark Cuban announced his $10 million commitment to women’s advocacy nonprofits, Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks committed the first $850,000 to seven organizations participating in North Texas Giving Day.

This first installment is dedicated to nonprofits focused on supporting women and preventing domestic violence serving in the North Texas area. These seven nonprofits include: The Gatehouse ($250,000); Genesis Women’s Shelter ($100,000); Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas ($100,000); Girls on the Run DFW Metroplex ($100,000); Helping Hands for Single Moms ($100,000); Foundation for Young Women’s Leadership Academy of Fort Worth ($100,000); and Women Called Moses ($100,000).

“North Texas and all who live here never cease to amaze me,” said Dave Scullin, president and CEO of Communities Foundation of Texas. “From the 60,000 people who have already given so far on North Texas Giving Day, to Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks just now donating $850,000, my mind is simply blown. The impact of his and all donors’ gifts will have on our community is staggering.”

Four hours remain for North Texas Giving Day. Donations up to $10,000 made on NorthTexasGivingDay.org will be amplified by more than $1 million in bonus funds and prizes. Plus, more than 400 nonprofits have raised their own 1:1 matching funds totaling $7 million.
