Trip 1: Veracruz Raptor Tour
 
Join GCBO staff as we travel with raptor expert, Bill Clark, to Veracruz, Mexico to see the famous raptor migration and explore the tropical forests for resident birds of prey. Bill has been studying and photographing raptors in the field for over 50 years. He is a renowned raptor guide creator and writer and has recently published a guide on the Mexican and Central American species.
 
Tour dates: October 6-14, 2018 with an extension offered for October 14-18 specifically for eagles
 
Tour highlights: The tour will coincide with raptor migration and the home base hotel, Hotel Bienvenido, has a hawk watch site on its roof!
 
Travel to a variety of different habitats including wet pastures, remnant rainforest patches and more!
 
Bill Clark will be leading the tour – he has led raptor watching tours to Veracruz since the 1990s. He is one of the leading experts on raptors and knows all the right places to look for resident species!
 
Possible species: Bat and Laughing Falcons, Zone-tailed Hawks, White Hawk, Double-toothed kite, Black Hawk-Eagles, Black-collared Hawks and many more!

Trip 2: Birding Oaxaca, Mexico
 
Travel with Martin Hagne, GCBO’s Executive Director, and Eric Antonio Martinez, the owner and guide of Birding Mexico, as they lead this tour through one of Mexico’s most bird rich areas. Spend four full birding days the different habitats in Oaxaca, including a half-day offshore trip for pelagic species. This excursion promises lifer after lifer!
 
Tour dates: September 11 – 16, 2018
 
Tour highlights: Birding in tropical deciduous and semi-deciduous forests (gorgeous habitat) for Southern Mexico endemics.
 
A half-day pelagic boat tour to search for Shearwaters, Petrels, gulls, terns and more.
 
Fantastic regional cuisine!
 
Possible species: Citreoline Trogon, Happy Wren, Golden-cheeked Woodpecker, Emerald Toucanet, Blue-capped Hummingbird (Oaxacan endemic) and many more!

Trip 3: Boreal Winter Birding, Duluth Minnesota
 
 
 
 
 
Enjoy the wonders of the Boreal bird species with expert Duluth guide Kim Eckret and Martin Hagne, GCBO’s Executive Director. It will be chilly but the birds will be worth it and Kim knows the best spots to birdwatch. Think Great Gray Owls!

Tour highlights: Three full days of birding including a visit to the famed Sax-Zim Bog area.
