Therese Lee – Bacon Lee and Associates - San Antonio
Marion Lee is a native born San Antonian with over 14 years experience in the non-profit sector.
While CEO of the San Antonio Area Foundation, Marion led the 35 year-old community foundation in its first strategic planning process and assisted the Board in researching and developing policies relating to donor relations, grant and scholarship program guidelines, and investment management. During her tenure, the foundation’s assets increased from $36 million to $102 million, becoming the second largest community foundation in Texas.
In 1992, Marion served as the Capital Campaign Director for the San Antonio Public Library Foundation assisting the team in raising $11.5 million to build a new central library in downtown San Antonio. Ms. Lee began her career as a Development Associate for the University of Texas Institute of Texan Cultures. She has counseled numerous individuals, private foundations, and non-profit organizations on management, charitable giving and fundraising issues.
In 2004, Marion received the National Philanthropy Day, Fundraiser of the Year award from the San Antonio Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She serves on the boards of San Antonio 100, Radius Texas, and the Humane Society/SPCA of San Antonio and gives many hours to mentoring and counseling members of the nonprofit community.
Marion also continues to serve the community by actively participating in San Antonio 100, the San Antonio Humane Society, the Landa Library Gardens, the Carver Cultural Center and Fendlera Foundation.
