The debate swirling around the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act, H.R. 2646 has led to an eruption of anguished commentary over the current state of our mental health system. At issue is the question of whether we have gone too far, in our policy and our rhetoric, in the direction of destigmatizing mental illness at the expense of recognizing how truly sick some people are and getting them the help that they need.

He also has seizures, which often result in emergency room visits. Her eldest son, Justin Cassiday, 26, served in the Army for eight years and was deployed to Afghanistan. He now has post-traumatic stress disorder.
