The San Antonio Area Foundation is offering a unique pilot program designed for a small group of CEOs to participate in a succession planning cohort.  We designed this program in response to CCAT results showing 95% of organizations have a need to prioritize leadership capacity and sustainability by cultivating organizational leaders, avoiding over-reliance on one leader, and planning for leadership transition (including having a succession plan).

We are very excited to bring this program, called “Succession Planning Matters!” to our nonprofit community.  The program is a combination of training and coaching limited to 15 senior executive directors, with five executive coaches leading the sessions.  Thanks to the generosity of these executive coaches, each CEO will have hours to spend with the coaches at an incredibly low rate for what would otherwise cost tens of thousands of dollars.  “Succession Planning Matters” participants will learn how to weave succession into organizational planning.

If your organization is in the 95% that needs to develop your leadership capacity, we encourage you to apply for this unique opportunity to proactively strengthen your organization!

A limited number of partial scholarships are available.

Click HERE for additional details including information about our executive coaches!

To apply for this competitive program, please click HERE.  If you have never used our online application system, you will need to register first, then log in and click “Apply” in the upper left corner, then scroll down and select the “Succession Planning Matters” application.

BoardEffect is an online portal that streamlines board work and provides directors easy access to important information. Area Foundation Membership includes the use of this tool, which is accessible via computer or a free iPad app.  We encourage members to take advantage of this resource, because:

  • Creating your board packet becomes a simple task of dropping files into an online agenda, customized to fit the order of your board meetings;
  • Organizing meetings becomes simple with BoardEffect's RSVP tool -- administrators survey board members on dates that work for their schedules and then select the most popular date with one click;
  • Committee and board collaboration becomes streamlined with online discussion, live chat and voting tools.

We offer free training for members to learn how BoardEffect can help your board communicate and collaborate effectively and improve efficiency.  Training includes an overview and tour of the portal, tips for management and administration of BoardEffect, and a Q&A/practice session.

Our next member training date is Wednesday, April 8, 2015 | 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
