News from St. Luke's United Methodist Church
St. Lukes United Methodist Church

November, 2011

WEEK FOUR THE CARING NETWORK

St. Luke’s is strengthening our caring network as a part of the vision to be a church where no one walks alone. Let’s seek God’s direction and wisdom together in prayer, and care for one another in ways that fortify a culture of conversation and connection at St. Luke’s.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14
Pray that Jesus Christ will be our example to embrace, receive and live out the call to walk with one another on the spiritual pathway.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 15
Pray that members of our congregation find someone to walk with them, or to show someone else the way, so that we may all take a step forward in faith.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 16
Give thanks that God’s Holy Spirit continues to encourage each Seeker, Believer, Belonger, Disciple and Apostle to take the next step into service as an offering of gratitude to God.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 17
Pray for the blessing of a companion to walk alongside the children, youth and adults who have experienced a sense of disillusionment with the church.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18
Pray for our congregation to cultivate relationships with others and continue or begin to reach out and include others in ministry.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19
Pray for our congregation to rely on God to continue to bring about healing and wholeness as we walk with others in caring relationships.

PUT FEET ON YOUR PRAYERS

Prayer is the leading edge, but we must invest in St. Luke’s vision with our time and resources, too. Where we pray diligently, our priorities, and thus our lives, will follow.

  1. Pick someone in your life who you can encourage throughout the week with calls, emails, texts or cards.
  2. Make contact with someone who is coming upon the anniversary of a death in their family or circle of friends.
  3. Have a meal with someone and discover a need you can meet for them.
  4. Commit to pray 10 minutes each day for our homebound members, people in the hospital and those recuperating in rehabilitation facilities.

Learn more about these opportunities by contacting Marsha Breniser at 713-402-5042.
