Christmas comes early to San Antonio and it’s children in need through the gift of
ballet by The Ballet Conservatory of South Texas. The BCSTX will perform an original production of “Twas! The Night Before Christmas” to area residents on December 8, 2010 at 7pm at the Alamo Heights High School Auditorium. The performance is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring a new, unused toy for the Elf Louise toy drive. In addition, BCSTX will also be giving a free performance to
approximately 1,600 Alamo Heights ISD school children in two separate performances on Wednesday, December 8, 2010.

“The Ballet Conservatory has reached out to area children for years, but this years’ performance marks the irst year that BCSTX has aligned with Elf Louise,” said Nancy Billups, President of BCSTX. “We are excited about partnering with Elf Louise this year. It will allow BCSTX to reach out to a larger group of area hildren.”

The production of “Twas The Night Before Christmas” will be performed by over 60 BCSTX Company and Academy dancers in an original production written and choreographed by Kym Lanier, newly appointed Director of the Ballet Conservatory. Ms. Lanier wrote, choreographed, designed the costumes and set, and selected the music for the original piece. “Twas! The Night Before Christmas will hopefully become an annual Christmas gift to the city from BCSTX,” said Billups.

The mission of the Ballet Conservatory of South Texas is to fulfill the developmental needs of serious young dancers, regardless of economic background, in a safe, nurturing and pre-professional dance company environment. The BCSTX does so by raising money for scholarships, providing high quality studio education and meaningful public performance opportunities, and by giving qualified guidance toward further higher education in dance and careers in dance performance and education. The BCSTX is also dedicated to educating and inspiring under-served children in San Antonio through providing free tickets to the company’s performances, and free dance lecture demonstrations in schools, social service centers and other community locations.
