'Sin Fronteras' examines Mexican migration through photographic art

Gilberto Cárdenas, a leading authority on Texas-Mexico migration issues, will deliver a video presentation of compelling photographic art related to migration at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 25, in Centennial Hall room G03 on the Texas State University-San Marcos campus. 

The presentation, titled “Sin Fronteras: Artistic Translations of the Complexities of Mexican Migration,” is sponsored by Texas State’s Texas and Mexico Committee 1810-2010.  It is free and open to the public.

Cárdenas is the Juan Samora Chair of Latino Studies and professor of sociology at the University of Notre Dame. Assistant provost and director of Notre Dame’s Institute of Latino Studies, Cárdenas has worked in the area of immigration for 30 years and has gained international recognition as a scholar in Mexican immigration. Three times named by Hispanic Business magazine as one of the most influential Latinos in the U.S., Cárdenas has authored or edited numerous books, articles, monographs,  and reports on international migration, economy and society, and race and ethnic relations.
